How to understand streaming royalties
Master, composition, publishing, territory, and splits: what each part of an estimate means.
One stream is not one royalty
A play can produce income connected to the master and other income connected to the composition. The master is usually administered by a distributor or recording owner; the composition may pass through a PRO, publisher, administrator, or several entities. Mixing them creates inaccurate expectations.
Why the average per stream changes
The average depends on listener country, service, account type, territorial deals, withholding, and reporting period. That is why a calculator can only provide an approximate scenario. Your distributor, PRO, or publisher statement is the source for an actual settlement.
How to use an estimate
Enter master and composition splits separately and record the assumptions: market, period, percentage, and fee. Build conservative, central, and high scenarios. The tool helps you plan and identify questions; it does not replace contracts, statements, or legal advice.
