Metadata: what to check before distribution
A clear review of titles, credits, splits, ISRCs, and names before delivering a song.
Credits are part of the work
Title, primary artist, writers, publishers, producers, and participants should match the agreements that actually exist. A credit should not be used to settle a dispute after distribution; it should reflect what the parties confirmed beforehand.
Compare against your documents
Review metadata against the split sheet, composition registration, and distributor data. Check accents, legal names, artist names, IPI numbers, percentages, and ISRCs. A small mismatch can separate reports or make a correction harder.
Save an approved version
